NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 13, 2015) Worship Leader/Songwriter Debra Black follows up her album debut with the release of her new single "Bright" to iTunes and Christian radio to kick off the New Year. To celebrate the uplifting, inspiring lyrics of "Bright," Black is partnering with nonprofit Hope For Justice to raise money for aid and prevention and bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking.
"I hope the lyrics of 'Bright' charge the believer to be bright and be a light in the darkness," said Black. "My passion is not only to encourage the local church, but also to bring awareness to the shocking issue of what is going on in the world, and in our neighborhoods here in the United States. By teaming up with Hope for Justice as I launch my new single, I hope to help be a bridge between this issue and the local church as well as help make this a conversation we are having, even on local radio."
"Bright" was inspired by Psalm 18:12: "Out of the brightness of HIS presence, clouds advance..." Black added, "The presence of God alone has the power to move things and to move people. We have His same presence living in us, which started the stirring in my heart. When we sat down to write this song, we wanted this to be a song for the new year to 'come alive and find new life, we were made to be different, we were made to live so bright.'"
"Bright" is available on iTunes and hits radio this month. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the single will benefit Hope For Justice and their efforts to abolish human trafficking domestically and internationally.
"We're always honored to partner with artists passionate about using their platform to fuel the modern-day abolitionist movement," said Stacia Freeman, U.S. director of Hope For Justice. "Our goal is to end slavery and Debra's song 'Bright' is an encouraging anthem for many to join in the fight and be a light against slavery."
